The Wii is natively 802.11b as far as I can tell. It's possible that it might use 'g' but I believe for cost purposes they just used 'b'. So no need to even plug it into a router as that will require additional hardware to provide the wii with a usb to ethernet adapter.

No it doesn't, odd to included built in wifi but no built in ethernet. For me it was great as I only have wireless available where I play my games. But for a few of my friends that have stayed wired only they've had to go buy either PC usb wifi adapters or a certain usb to ethernet adapter to use on the wii.

Alrightee, I just finished a better solution that the Microsoft wireless adapter. I picked up another Linksys wrt54gs router and installed the dd-wrt firmware on it, boosted the antenna strength and set it up as a wireless bridge. Now I can hook all my game systems up to it and it will wirelessly connect to my other router/internet. So only $70 CDN to hook all my consoles to the net! Sweet!

I picked up a Buffalo router that was DD-WRT compatible and did the exact same thing. I only spent $40 US on the router (on sale at BB). Now I have extra ports for my other devices in my entertainment center. Not only cheaper than the M$ adapter, but adds 3 extra ports for me and a stronger xmitter/receiver. Go this route for sure folks.
