didnt M$ say they were implementing a hardware recognition program into the actual OS of the 360 to prevent 3rd party controllers (and more to the point keyboards as controllers) being used. This is aparent as keyboards can be used for text entry but not for playing normal games.
The driver that exists is probably an official version of the one created for the Xbox 1 controllers but this will only convert the inputs to the windows kernal, therefore no need to detect its firmware so i think that is a dead end.
However, the firmware signiture can only be contained on chip on the controller, so it can only be a case of extracting it and reflashing the controller board on the old controller (although what you would do about the 360 button and the ring of light i dont kno, the lack of these key components may prove an impassible obsticle to software reprogramming)
