Post subject: 360 Hard Drive Replacement?

Ok, so I got an XBOX 360 from my old company that was going out of business. The Hard Drive doesn't work and is no longer under warranty. I've seen tutorials on upgrading the drive to a large drive, but it involves Ghosting the XBOX Drive to the new drive. Now the question is, if I were to get a 120gb Hard Drive replacement, can I format it for the XBOX 360? Is there an Image of the original Xbox 360 Hard Drive out there? I'd hate to have to buy another $100 20gb hard drive if I could just upgrade the dead one.

TIA!

Those ghosting tutorials don't really work, if you look at the latest news here: http://www.360-hq.com/article-1405--0-0.html you will see that TheSpecialist has released some software that will allow you to copy from your normal drive to a certain Western Digital 2.5" SATA drive. that's the only one that works so far with this, and you'll also only be able to use 20gb of it.

Also for this you do infact need a working drive, so I'm still not so sure this would be able to help you unless you could borrow a friends. I'm thinking for now it may be best to go to a store such as Game Crazy, Play, EB, etc and see if they have a used one, they are only about $10 cheaper normally but atleast it's not full price.

Also don't forget to check ebay, if you have the caddy sometimes you can find the drive itself for decently cheap.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like what I'll do is go buy a Xbox 360 hard drive. Then I'll buy one of these WD BEVS drives and repair my broken Xbox 360 Hard drive. Then I'll just have 2 20gb drives for my pleasure. I'm just getting into the console scene. I've been mostly a PC gamer, but since I got this for free, I figured what the heck. Just ordered a few games from eBay and some other things as well for the 360. Now I just need to learn how to use the damn controller.
