Use Any Electronic Drum Kit on Rock Band / Guitar Hero! Roland, Yamaha, Alesis...++

Introduction
This tutorial will explain how to setup any electronic drumkit that supports MIDI output so you can use it with Rock Band and Guitar Hero (with all 5 lanes).

In the video shown below, "matsuzaka2004" explains exactly how he has his own Roland TD-4 setup to play guitar hero and rock band. He has also graciously provided the MIDI info that I have been hunting for.

Can't afford a Roland, Yamaha, Alesis kit??
For those people out there who may not be able to afford a roland kit, I must recommend you check out the ION Drum Rocker, a 'premium' drumkit controller for Rock Band. We have another tutorial which will allow you to mod the ION kit even further so you can play all 5 lanes in every Guitar Hero game using the ION Drum Rocker.

What you need:
- A Guitar Hero Drum Brain or Drum Kit
- MIDI Cable
- Electronic Drumkit
- Some simple MIDI Settings/Values

Here is a great video which will explain things clearly for those of you who don't like reading.. Thank's to "matsuzaka2004" for making his video.. For everyone else, continue reading for the MIDI values and simple steps.

The Basic Steps

1. Connect the MIDI cable from your MIDI output to the Guitar Hero Drum Brain MIDI Input.

2. Turn on your Drum kit Module/MIDI unit.

3. You now need to set the MIDI Outputs on drum kit MIDI unit.

4. Go to "Options" in the main menu.

5. Go to "MIDI" Options in the main menu.

6. You should notice that each pad on your kit has been assigned a number.. You need to change the values so they match the following numbers:

MIDI Values:
Red - 38
Yellow - 46
Blue - 48
Green - 45
Bass Pedal - 36
Orange (for Guitar Hero) - 49

6. With everything all changed it's time to Turn on the Guitar Hero Drum Brain.

7. Now test out your kit.
