I've never seen a better looking (professional) console than the xbox one. It will go over well with the wealthy friends of my older sister. CEO's, administrators and professional people are going to love having this thing in their living room. This is a guaranteed hit for people with money.

The only thing I am concerned with is, no used games and the always networked question. Also I don't want to install all games to drive but I can live with that if I have to.

I love how you people just bash on the thing while you never have touched it. You don't even recognized the incredible advancements contained within this game console that will not be found on any other device in the world.

On another note, how about the instant on startup, instant on gaming and so on. This is something we've all wanted. If this thing can do instant on load access, then has more than enough power to emulate previous game consoles, doesn't mean they will. Wake up and smell the coffee! Rolling Eyes

why people still talk about that crap if Microsoft already confirmed the console will work offline. that's out of the question

so like I said in the PS4 thread, I'm wanting both xbox one and PS4. Since I like xbox live a heck of allot, I'll get the xbox one first then get the PS4 some time after that and really the PS4 just for PS4 exclusives.

We are finally at supercomputer heights with the xbox one and PS4, so expect to see some amazing stuff head our way.

Because it's been confirmed that you can't play offline unless you connect to the internet at least once every 24 hours:http://kotaku.com/xbox-one-does-require-internet-connection-cant-play-o-509164109. So if you go camping for a week or go to a friends house with no internet for a week, you won't be able to play your offline games.

Also, you can't upgrade the hard drive size on the Xbox. Just you have to hook up external hard drives if you need more space. Why Microsoft couldn't have just let you swap out your hard drive like Sony did with the PS3 is beyond me. Source for this:http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-uses-non-removable-hard-drive-supports-external-usb-st/

I don't know about you Tweaked, but I never really cared that much about the media aspects of my Xbox. Sure, being able to stream my music from my PC while gaming was great, and being able to stream videos from my PC was cool, but they weren't necessary features. The internet explorer, skype, tv, and NFL stuff isn't anything I ever wanted. I can already do these things on my PC - which has a much nicer interface and input method for these types of tasks.

I see what they are trying to do, but it's unnecessary. The Xbox One should be a gaming console. It doesn't need to browse the internet. It doesn't need be a second controller for my cable box. It doesn't need to force me to have Kinect hooked up to it so that it can turn on when I say "Xbox, turn on". It doesn't need to install games to the hard drive. It doesn't need to connect to the internet once everyday to play offline games. There is just so many things that should be optional features, with the forefront being gaming.

As for emulation, I really doubt that the Xbox One could emulate the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 CPU alone is a 3 core CPU running at 3.2 GHz. Modern day Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7 chips have a hard enough time emulating Gamecube and Wii games with Dolphin. I don't even think the highest end computer CPU's currently could emulate the Xbox 360 . Which is why you don't see any PS3 or Xbox 360 emulators for PC. I really doubt that a 1.8 GHz 8 core CPU that is being used in the Xbox One could emulate the Xbox 360. I guess it could happen if Microsoft could HIGHLY optimize the emulator since they have the exact specs for the Xbox 360, but it seems unlikely.

It does, however, seem extremely likely that the original Xbox could be easily played on the Xbox One. The original Xbox is built on the x86 architecture as well, so I'm sure they could get all the original Xbox games running with a compatibility layer put in place.

How is that even going to matter if the two consoles are nearly the same spec wise?

The media aspects are huge. I want them and I use them. There's 20 million plus others that do too. TV, netflix and so on are here to stay. Some of this is on the Sony too so there is no getting away from it any more

Ghz goes not equal more power, transistors do. You can not compare Ghz between completely different architectures or even chipsets especially from one generation to the next. The Ghz does not say what the results are. If Ghz were the tell all, end all of computer power then by now we would be seeing 50 Thz computers by now. Nothing proves this more than enterprise servers, something I work with every day. Can the XBOX ONE emulate the xbox 360? I have no idea. I have a feeling it can but don't know. Since we know nothing about the system boards, the processor except that it is 8 cores and the GPU, I'll leave it open on that subject. It sure has enough RAM.

Anyway, we all have our strong feelings about all this, I agree the PC is great for allot of this subject matter yet there will never be a PC in my living room except for the laptop. PC gaming can be great, I have a great PC. I rather game on the console and I rather watch movies on the big TV off a console. Hooking up the PC to the TV? Did it, done it, screw that.

Don't take anything I say personal. I do respect that you will do what is good for you and there are plenty of good points everyone is bring up here too.
