So do you mean you have given your 360 a static ip and added to your router's Demilitarized Zone?

I don't have a 1000mbps Internet (there is ISP with that speed here but expensive as hell)

As for the 5ms difference forahobby... you are an extremist Cool

lol, extremist now.. hahha. Come live down under, where the internet is terrible and you will see what yo mean, you want every advantage you could possibly get against those Capital City boys running cable and fibre.

I just put my 360 in the DMZ zone for my router, i did it before but tonight i noticed a huge improvement.

Yeah that's it Wink

My point is not about internet connection, it's about all the shit going on on my network in home. My out going connection is rather slow but I get great online play on my 360 because it is isolated and not on the wireless which is also effected by your neighbors routers whether secure or not. It all effects each other. So someones point about wireless interference is very valid. Even the microwave effects the WIFI.

You don't have a 300 mbps connection either. Wireless is hands down less efficient than wires even at the same rated transfer rates in all situations. anyway, if you have almost nothing going on in your home frequency wise then wireless can be excellent. Overall wireless should be good enough for online play at an average home no problem.

I don't know your setup at home but the closer to your wireless router you are the better it will work. Like if it is going threw walls or if it is a floor below or above things like metal I-beams can block or weaken the signal. For all I know, you may have your wireless router siting on top of your xbox 360, if so try to space it at least 2 - 3 feet.

on the wire, there all sort of TRENdnet ethernet splitters. If you have a crappy 10 mbps it might just plan suck. You want 100 mbps or better.

In my experience wired 100 mbps equals wireless N 300 mbps in overall performance. The more I have on my home network the more I like the wired connections. I am planning to wire the house with fiber optics for the network. I already have the 24 port 10GB per port switch.

@tweaked I have the same 34mb of D. and 2mb of U. either with wireless N or wired Lan. (I have made the test)

My router is in the first floor and my xbox360 is in the second. I don't get a full signal but how I am suppose to wire it? I have tried Lan2Electricity adapters but the speed drops a lot.

My xbox must be connected with wireless to get the most of the speed

@forahobby really? I am gonna try ad it to the DMZ zone. Yeah I know how it feels living in a non-fiber zone

Yeah, sometimes you have no choice but to use wireless like in your situation. Did you try different spots in your house there could be a sweet spot? Of course, you may be confined to the internet connection in your wall. I'm wasn't putting down using wireless in the other posts just pointing out how inefficient it is.

Hell, I use wireless allot. We have 2 roku's that use wifi, phones, and a few laptops too .... but the 360 is not in the mix. It as close to being isolated as possible. As for the aDSL I have, it's fast enough for online play with 1 computer, 1 360 and then having 2 HD video streams going at the same time. If more things start using the Internet then things start sucking. I can't wait for fiber in our neighborhood... looks to be about another year away. boooo!

I don't I am limited in the place (where cable enters the house) and I am also limited to use the ISP router (which sucks, it uses internl antenna).

What I am gonna do is disable wireless and connect my TPlink router by wired Lan, then the TPlink will share it via wireless using a big external antenna (so I may get to see Netflix in HD on my xbox)
