Well it's that time again for me, I need a new HDTV. Has anyone got suggestions on what to go for and what to stay away from?? I know my stuff pretty good but just thought i'd see what everyone else had to say.
Currently I have a Pioneer 60" Plasma HDTV, which i bought when it was the best TV back in like 2004-2005.

I would personally go the LED they are quite a nice TV with a spectacular picture

The LED seem to be the way to go, but only because of the power consumption if you asked me.. If plasma's were no good they would have stopped making them years ago.. You will notice you now have the choice from plasma, LCD or LED-LCD..
I've been reading alot of reviews and all of the video guru's recommend the plasmas.. so i guess i still need to decide myself.
The plasmas will chew a heck of alot more power, and if you have a smaller room it gets way too hot. Like a little heater.. the LED-LCD helps with heat and power consumption and basically why i chose it in the end! _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:

Nothing looks better than DLP even to this day but they take up too much room and you have to worry about the big expensive bulbs burning out.
My next one will be LED, if I can ever afford one, due to fact that LED tech has been around since the 60's. It's the most reliable and energy saving light source we have. also LEd produce very little heat if any, which is another reason they will last. Heat is the death of all electronics.
LCD is rather reliable as well, just you have to put up with no true black and motion blur but they can look nice. I do not think LED or Plasma have that issue. It is claimed that plasma does not burn in butt that is not true. Wow Hobbs, glad I came across this post. My wife and I just bought the Samsung. It's awesome! They had a package deal so we got the Blu-Ray 3D player and 4 pairs of glasses.
The picture is great, built in wifi saved me about $80 for the adapter and the fact that I can stream from my PC with AllShare makes it that much better.
The sound however is just decent. We have a Bose system to fix that problem though. My wife loves the qwerty remote. She does all her FB from the damn TV now. Lol
Turning the 3D on is as easy as pressing the 3D button and pairing the glasses (which is just pressing the power buttin in the glasses). We love the TV, oh and it's extremely light. It weighs less than my 42" lcd.
I would go with the Samsung. Its gonna be expensive, but worth it. _________________________________________________________

I got a 55" 240Hz VIZIO LED 10 million to 1 contrast ratio with internet apps. It's an awesome TV. I was kinda pissed tho, after i bought it, a new model came out which was 400Hz and was same price.
Anything over 50" I would stay in the ball park because anything larger will start to get blocky looking from being stretched.
As for what is best, I would def go with LED overall. LCD vs LED quality wise is hard choice to judge but LED does have more brightness which is better.

I think we paid about $600 for it. Its just 2 small speakers and the sub.
