So I bought another disc and a cooling fan for the Xbox360 thinking that was the problem. Its not because the game still freezes but I read online that rockstar is working on a patch to try to solve this problem. So I will most likely return the game until rockstar releases the patch to prevent the freezing problem. Real Disapointed about this game, I have all other GTA's and I was real excited for this one but not anymore...Thanks for all the help...

I would be pissed,
I have a 2 year old xbox, played about 7 hours and no freezing or even lagg, also played on a ps3 for a couple hours and it ran smooth. Guess im lucky.
Normaly I would think there was something defective with your box but it seems to be happening to alot of people on both systems, mostly ps3.
I dont think it is a bad disc problem.
and even if it is not a heat issue it must be that some systems are for some reason more sensitive or for some reason have a slightly lower threshold on how hard they can be pushed.
hopefuly an update can fix the problem, Im sure Rockstar will be trying to get one out quick so people will not be affraid to buy the game, or come back to get a new one if it has been returned.
Did you try some of the other things like turning off the auto save and controler vibration?

Might just be a glitch of some sort only effecting newer 360s. It may have nothing to do with heat. The Oblivion glitches were not heat related but code related. So there may still be some bugs in the game. _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

Its tough to say, but I wouldn't say it affects newer 360's because mine is January 08 and my friends is February 08, both Falcons and neither of us have had an issue _________________________________________________________
Hey I think we got it over here. My Brother and I was doin a lil troubleshooting last night. (play game with profile, without profile, with net without, etc.)
But we got it working. It was the HDD that was Fin everything up. We already own a memory unit (because we had a similar problem with halo3 reseting on single player) so we copied our profiles to the Memory unit and removed the HDD completely, it started workin like a charm.
And after playing since 7:30 am to 6:00pm with only one lock up in the first hour, and having my brother clock in 6hours of game play with no lock up at all,I feel pretty confident that this should work for you jumanji311.
Just have to buy or borrow a memory unit from a friend to see if it will work for you.
Let us know if it works for yah, or if its just our console.
Good Luck.

If it is the hard drive thats messing everything up I would suspect a reformat of your hard drive would fix it. If you can format it then go for that and see if that fixes it, I'd suspect it would _________________________________________________________
I've played through about 20% of gta4 and haven't had one single problem until now. I'm at the 2nd safehouse and the system locks up a few seconds after start-up. I cleared the cache and still have the same problem. after this happened a few times I tried other games and they work just fine.

Well now my 360 is locking up on any game, not just GTA 4. No red lights and the machine isn't hot. I also created a new profile and it's locking up on that too.
