The wii is doing so good because people like my mom (cant even walk and aim at the same time on halo) go out and buy it because its a casual gamers paridise. Hardcore gamers only have a few games to choose from, so most people that have been gamers have kinda come up dry. _________________________________________________________
So i actually payed attention when i read this this time. Hobbs was sayin that everytime m$ sold an original xbox they would lose money. now is that m$ losing money when an original xbox sold? _________________________________________________________

Yes Microsoft lost thier ass selling the original xbox. Traditionally for the first year or so until technology on the system gets cheaper a company will lose money on the hardware and make it up on the software. But Microsoft never did break even selling the original xbox. But they did get into the gaming market and become serious competition for all the other console makers. I think that was Bill Gates plan all along. I don't think that he cared that he lost money just as long as Microsoft got there foot in the door. So if you do your research you will indeed find that Microsoft never really made a profit selling the original xbox hardware. _________________________________________________________

The reason I love the wii so much is that it helped me get my wife into video games. That is worth its weight in gold to me. Now not only does she play the wii but also the 360! And to tell you the truth the wii is pretty awesome for the price. I especially love the fact that you can get your digital camera card and just pop it into the wii and it will do a slideshow so you can see what kinda pictures you took. Also me and the wife enjoy playing the wii sports game that originally came with it and also like the fact we can download all the original classic nintendo games. Not too mention I can play all my original gamecube games on it. The wii system really can't be beat for the price. _________________________________________________________

The only reason I would purchase a wii (which i wont) is for super smash bros. Its a good concept and it seems to be working but to me its a little gimmicky. I would rather be on live killing people in COD4 than swinging my arm in some wii bowling.

That is the upside of the wii for people like you, but for me its worthless lol. I have a gamecube, N64, SNES and a NES so i already have all of the good old games. I don't like the motion either. The only game id play if i had a wii is brawl.
Its great for new gamers, but i dont think long time gamers would like it as their only system (the 360 is all i have of this gen and i have more than enough to play). _________________________________________________________

So do some of you own a wii than. To me the wii is an ENTIRELY different type of gaming, more user friendly and somewhat kid based (although I do know many elderly people play wii too). Im all about the competitve aspect of gaming.. its much more skill oriented and just gets your blood pumping. Ive tried to play the wii on a few occasions (such as whenever I walk into the local Gamestop) and I just cant hold myself to play whatever game they have in the system for more than 3minutes. Theres just something about it that makes me feel like Im wasting my time.. and then I walk to the 360 rack. _________________________________________________________
Thats what i think too. My mom wants a wii so shes going to buy one of them so ill have one. Super smash brawl and mario galaxy will be the only games ill play on it (galaxy is kinda boring though, i prefer super mario 64). _________________________________________________________

Ha super smash seems so kiddie like and cartoony but once you play it with a couple of your friends you see how hardcore it can really be. I personally think there is so much more skill involved with that game than many people want to realize.
I mean if you read my above posts you would think I hated the wii (somewhat) but I give super smash big props _________________________________________________________

We WII sells consoles not games. The 360 has the most game sales per buyer by far which is what makes the money.

PS3 = 3 games per console buyer
WII = 4 games per console buyer
360 = 8+ games per console buyer
I have over 20 360 games not including xbox live games
I tried the WII with family and it is fine.
