It seems Sony was/is also working on a way to make the PS3 games that you purchace only work on the first system it is placed in. The only way I can see this is to require an internet connection but I don't know. Anyways, what this means, If they do it, is that they are trying to come up with a way to make sure that if you have a game the only place you can play it is at your home and not at your friends house, he has to buy his own. It would also completly kill the used game business for PS3 games.
Now why would anyone want to give money to someone that greedy?
p.s. Sony has also officaly discounted a CNN quote of the $300 to $400
price range but would not give a estimate on the real price range. From what I've been reading its looking like it could cost upwards to $800, but for now that looks to be just a rumor,,,,,, we will see. _________________________________________________________

Someone please correct me if I am wrong " with links please" as I have looked for definite info on this subject and still have yet to find anything.
but this is what I have come to understand
To my knowledge at most rental places the only fee they pay is the initial cost of the game. the same thing you pay but they get wholesale prices or they pay the same thing for the rentals as they do for the games they put on the shelf for sale. Now there are some cost sharing bussinesses out there too but that just provides a lower up front cost and you pay them a fee from the rental, but this is not run by the videogame companies at large.
The only reason I can find that this is legal, is that sometime between when Nintendo tried to sue to have the NES games pulled from video rental shelves and the PS discs began to come out for rent. The courts basically said the original purchaser of a game has the right to do what ever they wish with the game as long as it is not copied for a profit. which made rental leagal. I think the same goes for video.
so to my point, If the Sony thing is true then,,,,,
SONY dosen't care if they loose rental as long as they stop coppies and game sharring even if its just sharring of the original disc. And it is this same kind of thinking that has gotten them in trouble in the first place.
One more thing ,,,these pattents , if real, could be for Blu-Ray DVDs all together,,,, then what would you do? _________________________________________________________
