I have had a hell of a hard time extracting some of my xbox 360 isos.
I like to use the exiso GUI. Ssing the command line mac (linux) terminal version always gave me grief.
The command line output would always say 'game_name.iso' does not appear to be an actual iso file and not extract.
I had much better luck with the exiso GUI for windows 7 when running it as an administrator.
However this program has its own troubles. When I tried extract my each iso disk of halo 4, the program would say disk 1.iso or disk 2.iso don't appear to be isos and not extract them.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a surefire program or a way to preprocess my iso files in order to my 360 iso programs to extract them into their respective game folders?

It could just be a PC configuration issue or admin privileges (like you tried) causing you so much grief.

Here's a complete list of XISO tools for Xbox 360, hopefully you can find something else that works for you but both of those tools you mentioned are the ones i would use.
Are you running Windows or Linux? I haven't tried ever to extract any ISO's on any linux distributions but have done it a few times with Windows and never had any issues! _________________________________________________________

I usually turn to my mac's bootcamp (duel boot) partition of windows 7 for extracting isos.
I get that iso game files are nice because you can burn them to a disk and play them that way. I don't want to waste my dvd disks. I wish people would just distribute game folders rather than iso version. That way I don't need to use my windows side :p
I have been using windows 7. I run the exiso gui exe program by right-clicking and hitting run as administrator. A few iso files get extracted to their game folders other file just don't work and the program says it doesn't 'appear to be a .iso file', which is complete crap because they are .iso files...
Some of my unrared games come with .dvd files. Is their anyway for me to extract game folder contents from the dvd files instead? This would be a last resort if you have no idea on how to deal with the iso extraction problem I am currently facing.
If you like I can send some screenshots from my windows 7 computer trying to extract some of these game isos with exiso gui too.
thanks
