Hey HQer's,
Was checking out games and stuff today and it seems Australia has finally got Saints Row IV which was refused classification for so long. Well funny thing is it went from refused classification skipped the adult rating of R18+ and landed as an MA15+ title.
Now this made me extremely puzzled and a bit annoyed as it is an adult game and not recommended for children yet when released here didn't get an adult rating.
I commented to the guy at the game store that "It's a little silly to go from refused to MA15+." to which he replied "Well gamers in Australia should not have to have explicit sex and drug use in their games." To which I said "What about GTA V that's the same thing right but in a more realistic situation." To which he replied yes you can do all sorts of drugs and alcohol with realistic affects, have sex, with all the usual GTA violence and stuff but it got an R18+ rating so that's ok and you can pre order it if you haven't already."
So yeah that all made no sense to me 2 games very similar and get 2 different outcomes and answers.
I guess that means that adults of Australia will believe that alien drugs will give you superpowers in unrealistic circumstances if they see it in a 3rd person open world game so just give them the real deal of hardcore drugs straight up because we can't tell as adults what's real and what's total bullshit.

See that's where you have to take responsibility and not make it accessible like what I will have to do with my son.

yeh but until what age? Most high school kids see all sorts of drugs and no doubt sex. lol I sure did. I believe kids not in high school shouldn't even be playing on adult consoles, they need to be on the Wii and PlayStation 4 (hint hint) lol _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:

@ TMS,
The Australian version of the game has all the drugs and stuff cut-out of it. I did read up about it but can't exactly remember everything in detail. Another thing, the game is obviously different since Xbox Live tracks it differently to the North American and European versions. I had to add two games now in the database. One for AUS and one for everyone else.

It's up to the parents but I see many teens playing GTA and Saints Row series of games. Big deal. I don't see the problem. Thing is, just try and stop your teenagers from playing games like this. They will just play them at a friends house, I know I did. At least AU is getting a cool game even if it is watered down so then no problem for 10 to 12 year olds then right? _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

All I'm saying is if we have an adult rating so use it.
