I love dirt biking / 4 wheeling and had some doozy accidents but some how I managed to come out clean with just scratches and a few broken bones. Now in the spring, I plan to start riding a chopper. I hope nothing like that happens. My friends sister who is a paramedic always calls them organ donors just because of situations like this.

I know a man who had a bad high speed motorcycle accident when he was in his 20's (45 now). His helmet took the initial blow but shattered and then few off . His body flew for few hundred feet and was stopped by a guard rail from going over a 40 foot drop to the river bed below. He was in a coma for I believe about a month. One amazing thing is he had no broken bones except for a light crack in his skull. I think it is safe to say that he would be dead if not for that helmet and how things worked out in his situation. He said his rate of speed was approximately 110 MPH but he does not remember any of the actual accident.
