There are several members on HQ running HD recorders, so you should get some good feedback in this thread.
HQ Members running HD Recorders:
- forahobby (me) | Hauppauge HD PVR
- TMS Crazy Taxi | Unknown??
- S1mme | Hauppauge HD PVR (i think)
The hauppage does not require your PC to encode the video while you are capturing, it does it in the box itself and send the video via USB to your PC.. It's really a nice setup, but quite expensive.. This way you don't get dropped frames all the time.
HD PVR is the world’s first High Definition video recorder for making real-time H.264 compressed recordings from your Xbox or PS3 game play. HD PVR records Component Video (YCrCb) is recorded at resolutions up to 1080i, while audio is recorded using optical audio with Dolby AC3 or two channel stereo audio.
TMS_Crazy_Taxi picked up a $99 HD recorder for his PC.. It works nice.. Im not sure if it records in 5.1 surround (AC3) but it looks nice, you can see some samples on his youtube page or his threads on HQ!

I haven't seen that brand. Have you got a link?
My Hauuppage is only using Component cables, but that don't matter anyway, you wont notice the difference.
