|
|
I recently upgraded my TV to a Samsung Series 8 3D LED TV which supports network streaming, USB streaming and loads of stuff.
The problem I had was when I tried to run a few of my High Definition (HD) .mkv video files in 720p or 1080p format it would throw up an error like "unsupported codec" or something, even though the codecs were supported 100% in the manual.
Anyway, I experimented a little and came up with this fix.
Read on..
How to get .mkv video files working on your Samsung Series 8 TV:
1. Rename your .mkv video files with the extension .avi.
2. eg. mymovie.mkv will become mymovie.avi
3. Now that your movie has a .avi extension it will work perfectly.
If you cannot see file extensions in windows you can turn this option on in your folder options.
My guess is a firmware update will fix this sometime soon.
