Can someone please point me in the right direction for doing a Soft Mod on my 360? It has the Lite On drive, I can't remember the firmware version but I remember when I looked at it, it was one of the numbers that is hard to mod....Can someone give me some ideas?
Thanks

Hey welcome to HQ-Network
By softmod you must be talking bout drive flashing.
You need to know the firmware version, either it's a 7xxx, a 83850c or a 9xxx
Once you know that I can point to the right tutorial. _________________________________________________________

actually you really dont need to know the firmware version only if its Lite-on fat model or a slim model if slim it requires more doing if its a lite-on fat model then easy as pie with right tools
If you order yourself up these tools here it make flashing it as easy as pie specially if your new to this and are not good with doing soldering (mra hack)
If you got the money to do this to its pretty affordable in my book specially if your flashing it yourself and flashing others to after words
Xecuter CK3i $39.99
Xecuter CK3 Probe III $14.99
if your looking to mod a lot more too other then yours and specially if it is a lite-on drive go with a
Xecuter X360 USB Pro With Case they are about $50 these allow you to hook sata up through usb and are the best i have all 3 of these and they are amazing no need to solder for any xbox 360 fat console makes work easy and painless. This is recommended specially for Lite-on slims as lots of pci boards dont work and even onboard sata were i have not had one issue with the usb pro or any other set from xecuter. Made my money back in about 3-4 mods for people and saved me so much more time.
So $55.00 if you just get the xecuter ck3i and probe 3
and $105.00 if you get the usb pro
This would be the best investment you can ever get to not have to worry about the mra and soldering on any xbox 360 before slims.
If you dont have the money there is alternate routes to doing this and that is the mra hack which requires soldering if your new to that i would not recommend it as you will mess up your board and if you mess it up without having the key you will have just a nice old dvd player ha.
You can always build a custom probe too to cut back on the costs.
When i recommended the stuff above as i use it myself saves time and no worry if your pc sata ports will work or not or even a pci sata card as that cant be used on new slims at all if they are locked or just so many problems with it.
You also have a option to have someone else do it for you in your area or on here. I myself offer to flash many different types of models i can flash the lite-on fat (old xboxs not slims) for $20 and all you do is pay shipping here and back i really only need the dvd drive to do this as i have yet to mess one up. But i can install the latest firmware. I recommend updating to the latest dashboard that is available you can get it from xbox.com if you need and use a usb stick to update the xbox with and i offer free upgrades in the future i can do it over the internet if you are able to hook the drive up to your computer recommending a connectivity kit for this or you can ship it off and just pay shipping.
There is many tutorials out there a good way is to check out the latest jungleflasher program download it and go to the documents file and check out there guide it gives everything needed and will show you what all you have to do before you even begin it is very noob friendly.
If you have a benq, samsung, hitachi there would be no require to solder or any extra tools as long as you are able to connect it up to your computer.
there is other methods i am sure you can try which many other users on here can offer to help with so if you need more info on different ways just ask and let people i guess know the firmware version and that and go from there. _________________________________________________________ The one the only Scarface!!
