I just made a small video of my desktop showing some of the great effects a Ubuntu desktop can do.
I had to record it with half of the resolution, this way it doesn't get too slow because recording the 3D effects consumes a lot of resources of my PC but you can still see 360-hq on it...
What you think? _________________________________________________________

Windows is much superior.. and you have to pay for it. Who wants something thats looks that good for free??? Definately not me
I had Ubuntu for a while, i like the way you can spin it to a different desktop. The only reason i stopped using it was because of program compatability issues i was having, apart from that it was great. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

As for the compatibility issue I think thats part of the past now, pretty much all the important stuff seens to work with codeweavers Wine and Crossover the only thing I need from Windows now is to run Autocad 2010 and Flight Simulator X. _________________________________________________________

I have just sorted out my second computer today (the one i'm using for a mame project that will never get done). I'll install ubuntu on that and have a mess around. I'd heard of wine but compatability wasn't great at that time. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

Do you bother with antivirus or firewall? I see there is a driver for Ubuntu to read NTFS drives, suppose it would be advisable to install one if i install that driver? _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

No you dont, Ubuntu already reads and writes on NTFS drivers by default. (Ubuntu 8.04 or higher)
You definitely dont need an anti-virus and firewall I never used one because it's a very safe system but you can always install firestarter firewall.
I am currently using Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) is in a candidate version and it will be soon released. _________________________________________________________
