Sounds like you need to turn the pot up on the laser-->http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=517961

Ok, thanks will look into it but aren't the lasers on the drives set by computer? I didn't think after purchasing a new drive that i would have to do something with it. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Well it really depends. When I bought a new laser for my samsung drive I had to turn it up. Sometimes when you buy new drives the pot isn't turned up as high as it should be. You may also want to take a q-tip and a drop of rubbing achohal and clean the laser off.

Anyone know if there is a fix for a hitachi drive that wont spin the disc? I left the cover off the dvd drive and placed a disc in ( used the magnetic ring from the cover to hold the disc down) and the laser works but the disc wont spin... Any help would be appreciated. thanks...
