Would like to see pics of how you guys go about doing a little extra to keep your xbox temps down. I had previously had an inter cooler on mine which contained 3 fans, on of them died, a second was running half speed and noisy and with only 1/2 of its capacity I figured it was probobly hindering airflow more than helping so I removed it. My system has been sent in once already for repairs after over heating issues.
In the future I want to water cool but dont want to do anything as long as warrenty is still in place, after that all bets are off. But until then I can only do non-invasive things.
To help with cooling I have Box in open area, Small but strong fan blowing on the side that blows cool air into the vents, pushes hot exhaust away to keep it from being recirculated and it also blows cool air over top of case and under the case as well keeping the entire system cool to the touch.
The first pic shows the make shift spacers I attached to the bottom to keep it elevated which allows cool air to blow under the system also cutting down 0n a little heat buildup. It gives 1" clearance and is just some spice caps hot glued to bottom in tripod configuration.
This shows it rite side up. I also added a little hot glue to bottom of caps and let it dry before turning it over ( its not glued down ), this gives the caps some traction like rubber on your shoes so it does not slide arround when pushing button or if cord gets tugged a little, its very stable.

I read somewhere that some people are placing thier 360s on lthe cooling pads that you use for laptops this is something that I was thinking of doing when I get my back from repairs
I used little peices of cardboard from a 24 pack of water bottles and used duck tape to make 2 inch things on the bottom of my lego box (i put my xbox 360 on this). Then i have intercooler on it and going to put arctic alumia on my new box here in a little bit. _________________________________________________________
Hello----I have had my sons play thier 360"s for as long as they could---and no problems---(up to 18 hrs straight) on the week-end with freinds----what I do is ---you know those plastic containers that coke uses for thier 20ox bottles they deliver to stores----I set the 360 on top of one of those---so air can still flow in any direction----the main thing is not to block any vents at all---most over heating is do to laying console on carpet or something that blocks air flow----inter coolers to me are great at first but as they fail (and all do) it will heat up your 360 by blocking air flow vents---so people get it up off the ground---and most likely you will have no over heating problems------Have a great day
I am in the process of modding my case for more cooling power also adding another one of my little inventions to it that i am working on to help cool it better, dont have much time to work on it so i cant say when it will be done but i will have to get some pics up when its complete.
ok i managed to complete my task tonight, here are the pics.. i forgot to take a pic of how the custom shroud fits in before i put it back together though...

I had absolutely nothing extra on my 360 for 2 years.
Never overheated once and we get like 45+ degrees celcius days here in summer.. It worked all day and all night.
Personally i just feel its the luck of the draw with earlier models.
If you have a older xbox 360 i suggest doing what endless did and installing the XCM fans or replacement fans like i have in my chameleon case. _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:

it is from a cpu heatsink, i do believe it is 60mm.. i have it wired to the 12v source on the power plug from this tut http://www.360-hq.com/xbox-tutorials-50.html thats why i have the switch cuz it is a constant feed. works good for me, i just have to find a grill to put on it so no wires or fingers get caught in it. _________________________________________________________
