I am interested in modding my xbox 360 but also want to play my games online. I know that you can turn a modchip off, but is there a way to flash the firmware and still play online. What is the best route I should take on this.

You can flash the firmware, but then you would need to reflash the stock one on it to be able to play online.

I removed my modchip since M$ started detecting mods.
I would suggest running one of the latest firmware's which are currently stealth (well so it seems for now).

If you flash your firmware and play online you are risking losing your xbox but I have heard of many guys who are still running firmware right now and are online.

There are guys out there who are playing live on modded boxes, but who's to say that MS wont ban them in future.

Having modded a box and had it banned you really have to ask yourself wether you play live enough to warrant it. If you dont play live that much, yea do it.

But I can tell you from experiance that it SUCKS being banned
