I have noticed alot of people complaining about the new headsets that come with the XBoX360. Until Yesterday all was well until I went to plug it in and what? It doesnt work? What crap. So I went searching the posts, tutorials and found a tutorial that shows how to wire another headset to the adapter so that you can keep the volume and mute function. So I set out busting them open and decieded I would try and make a hybrid headset. Keep the headband from the new, With the internals of the old.(Hate when the little clip brweaks and you have to drill a little hole and put a screw to keep it on your head) What I found was pretty interesting. On the newer builds they just splice the wires together inside the earpiece. No little extras or anything. But on the older headsets, They actually have a little PCB with a diode or resistor. So I will attempt keep everything the same excluding the little board with the diode/resistor thingy on it. Hopefully it makes a difference. Post later with followup.

well that seems to help a bunch. I will post pics to show what I was talking about. Nonetheless its much easier to just plug in your other headset to the jack. Bu there are a selected few among us that find this kind of thing interesting and worthwhile. So if this info has been helpful in anyway please share your feedback. Remember it's much easier to just plug in another headset.

Yea thats when I found out that it didnt work. Funny thing though was when I popped halo2 in for the first time on the 360 I had to update the system 3 times. Then forgot that I didnt have the maps on the 360 and had to download them too. Got a screen that said players currently reviewing postgame stats or something like that. Never seen that screen on halo2 on the xbox. Must be some new stuff they added.

All of the maps are free now. As for the echo just pull out ur mic(sometimes another user is causing the echo and needs to pull out mic)
As for the headsets and volume I hate it when people dont speak into the mic and keep sending messages that you cant hear. LOL drives me nuts. I always have to ask em what were you saying and they cant even remember. Oh well, If its important then they'll make sure I get it.

Try deleting any map files that might have been partially downloaded. That was was case on the original xbox. Or at least was for me.
