I have done a little digging on the net trying to find info on the new GTA 2 things I have found on Wikipedia ( usualy a reliable source of info )
are 2 issues that I am a bit dissapointed to hear are
1. No Flying, aparantly there will be no aircraft in this version. so to go anywhere you will have to take the long way, this may have been done to make change number 2 less noticeable.
2. Map to be smaller than San Andreas Dont know about you but I was realy looking forward to an even larger map.
oh and back in liberty city, After all the guessing on what they would do next for a location, and many theorizing ither a south american location or Europe, it looks like we dont need to pack our bags, rather than letting us go to europe they are bringing a Euro character to Liberty city.
but the graphics look sweet, and there is talk that there will be more content available later such as more ingame missions.
I guess we will have to wait and see if it will live up to the expectations of the hard core GTA fans like myself.

if the graphics are as nice as they show in the preview, than maybe it wont realy be noticable, may even seem bigger as far as alot more things to see. But im sure going to miss the jet pack. I allways wished we could drive even larger vehicles like the cargo ships and carrier in San Andreas. But since they will be doing downloadable content for new missions maybe they will also eventualy do downloads for more areas and maps,, like maybe you could go the the airport in liberty city and get off in a new, ( but of course smaller) new map area, like a tropical island or something, the ability of downloadable content opens up all kinds of possibilities, as they have done on many games such as oblivion.

Have a gander at this, might raise your hopes a bit. I've seen this floating the web, might be plausible.

People speculate wether the retail game will look as damn nice as the trailer and my anwser is yes. Back when the past GTAs were having their first trailers they turned out to look like those trailers. Rockstar say they are in game real time and they don't lie.
As for the Planes, it is a shame but seen as the map is 1 island with no countryside a plane would be pointless
The map is said to be as big as SA maybe slightly bigger as Liberty City (NEW YORK ) has extra areas. Do you all remember the closed off tunnel? For me that is the GTA 4, I think Rockstar wanted Liberty City too expand through there but could not do it on the PS2. Now that they have next gen we will see 'the other side'

When you say smaller how much smaller are we talking about? If it's only just a little smaller thats no big deal. But if it is as small as Liberty City in GTA III that would suck. _________________________________________________________ At ease soldier.

It is confirmed to be bigger than Liberty City in GTA III.
