Paid a guy to teach me how to RGH while he modded my console. The process isn't so bad, basically you only use a small amount of solder needed to tin the tip for connecting lead wires to various points on the motherboard.
But man are some of those points on the phat mobos small.
I'll need to practice SMD soldering with broken IC boards before I really feel like a pro.
Gotta love the backup feature of freestyle dash 3 though. I backed up my Halo 3 disk and man, those game boot and load times have been cut way down!

It cost me $60 for the service. Basically the guy used his own NAND flasher and of course I kept the $20 coolrunner chip. So basically I essentially paid $40 since I would need to buy my own modchip anyways. Had I done this all on my own, I would have bought my own $40 NAND flasher.
He threw in a DVD flash for free as well, which was pretty nice since the equipment for flashing costs $100, I believe.
The best part was I got to solder two or three of the wires on the front side of the mobo. It wasn't quite as bad as I imagined, but he did the really small ones near the xclamps.
I really need to find some broken ICs at junk stores, invest in some flux, small tips and a weller temperature control station. It was a ton of fun and I definitely want to mod another console again.

Does he ever take shipments in and what state? If I ever find an old falcon 360 for $50 I'd like to send it to him. _________________________________________________________ The internet, a place where people expect you to know what they know.

No my console had dash 8xxx, so it could not be Jtagged. We simply did RGH I.
He had the x-tool to open up the back of the console, which is a complete bitch to open with just one flathead screwdriver I'll definitely need to invest in one soon.
He basically had some brown flux in a container, regular solder for tinning his iron and a Weller temperature control station hooked up the iron.
The funny thing was for soldering leads to the mobo, he never introduced solder wire to the point. He only used the small amount of solder needed to tin his tip for the connection. It was worth paying him to watch him at work. I had to slow him down a few times so I could try a few points myself

While he does do this as a side business, it's mostly just for fun he said. My board was a falcon as well, which he seemed to prefer. If you have an old falcon, he could definitely help you out I think.
I'll ask if he does shipments or only in person transactions.

Or I could mail it to you and have you take it up to him and forward the coasts to his paypal account if you'd be willing to do that. If you ever start doing some yourself let me know. I wouldn't mind dropping $100 on a rgh console. _________________________________________________________ The internet, a place where people expect you to know what they know.

Not that I wouldn't be willing to help you out by driving your console to him, but I'd was a decent drive for me, which I'd rather not do regularly. Hopefully he'll be interested in just dealing directly with you through the mail.
Once I practice RGHing a few more times, I'd be willing to try it myself for you at some point.
Will team xecuter still be making modchips for the next three years?

Hey kennethk,
My guy said he had done mods by mail plenty of times. You could buy a glitched console from him, but it would set you back close to $200, I think.
So if you have your own phat or slim to send him, it'll be cheaper for you.
