If you pay for a console AND a live service, I think it's reasonable to not want ads...
If it were free like sony's then it would make sense that there would be ads.
Call it principle, if I pay then no ads on my console. Simple.

I honestly don't see how video game companies are threatened by mobile gaming.
The aesthetics of mobile/handheld gaming are completely different than console gaming.
For one the screens are smaller by default and the content is simple.
With good video game console games you get a great world to immerse yourself in, in-depth levels and if you're lucky replay value.
Consoles need to focus on the game. Screw people who think mobile gaming will take over.

halofan102, maybe but we'll see if PS4 has ads too with their paid service. I don't care one way or another if either console has ads as long as they don't interrupt my gaming or my Netflix which they don't currently on the 360 and neither do they interrupt anything.

I still think a lot of people are annoyed if not mad at M$ for the DRM and always online crap. Having to activate your new console online before playing will also force firmware updates preventing people from buying later versions in the hopes of trying a previously discovered hack. We all know why M$ is doing that..
PS4 won't be as irritating. It makes a difference. The live content is king on M$ consoles though. No comparison.
My first console was an N64 it had great shooters and a whole host of other games. I still think it's the best console ever. Then again it was my first so I am biased.
I don't own a gamecube or Wii because Nintendo has games that appeal more to 8-12 year-old range. That's a good demographic to market to, but M$ and Sony offer shooters with blood, gore plus grand theft auto.
I know Nintendo doesn't necessarily censor their console like in the 80's early 90's but they really hurt themselves with that policy back then and it eventually caught up with them, but with their great lineup of first-party titles, they have tended to not focus on third-party options thus preventing users from having grand theft auto etc.
If Nintendo just offered good kids games and shooters etc. then everyone would be happy and they'd easily win every console war. Just my opinion

Nintnendo does has shooter
Look more into the WiiU - the 3DS xl has Chinatwon wars gta and mgs snake eater
Black ops and such is out on WiiU as well as games like batman, watch dogs is coming, wiiu is not a slouch just because it comes from a company that doesnt care about high end graphics, Nintendo wants players to have fun not take only experiences seriously. Dont quote me but mp for WiiU is also free. lol
As for Sony having Ads I dont think they will
But the lot of us shouldnt be praising anything until we see offical reviews thats why I dont shit my pants and rape the preorder button what if it gets to your door and you hate it.
