I was just curious if there was such a thing, googled it, found a site, but when I went to download it was one of those, "Fill out out an offer first" scams. So, is there really a 360 emulator for pc?, and has anyone here tried it? If so, is there also a ps3 emulator that works.

All those youtube vids etc of 360 emulators are absolute bullshit. The amount of power you would need to software emulate a 360 to any degree of accuracy would be obscene. As it stands now a x4 3.2Ghz with a dedicated video card and 4GB of RAM doesnt even have the power to 1 to 1 emulate a SNES. Currently all emus like SNES, PS1 etc use speed hacks and frame skip to attempt to bring it inline with the original.
Then you also have to consider the architecture issue of the 360 CPU. The fact it isnt an x86 or x64 compliant processor means its a c#!t to work with. Thats one of the biggest reasons for the pretty lame homebrew scene for 360.

Exactly! The biggest hurdle is the architecture. x360's CPU is closer to that of a PowerPC which apple doesn't even use anymore. emulating that is going to be the biggest pain because it will require a pretty beefy computer to begin with, and a nightmare to code lol
Next problem is the GPU, it is a CUSTOM ATI, so although the newest GPU's for pc's are much more powerful, none are exactly the same, and getting that right is easier than the cpu, but still difficult.
I would highly doubt if we saw a proper 360 emu for at least 5-10 years
greed prevents them from opening up anything, even heavily emulated consoles from 20 years ago, they could just give up the source and let people go nuts, or include all the past games for free under android, put ads on them i dont care, if they wanted to they could make them popular again.

For sure! Imagine if Nintendo released the entire n64 library on wii u for like 100$. They could then have n64 controllers too, that would sell like hotcakes. Wouldn't even need advertisements _________________________________________________________ 360-HQ Toolbar | 360-hq Digg news | 360-HQ Active Topics | 360-HQ Boxxet Page | My Setup

Yeah they see it as their property and well you probably wouldn't let your property out of your hands that easily without knowing what the cause is for. _________________________________________________________ The internet, a place where people expect you to know what they know.
