We now have some advanced caching in the web server that should help the sites be lickity split for all. So far, my testing has not turned up any glitches and the speed of page loads and refreshes have been improved. Please let us know if you notice the improvements and or if you notice any glitches. Some glitches could be posts that do not update after you post them or you upload an image and it stays as the old image. Things like this will update after an x mount of time due to the nature of the cache. However, feedback will help us fine tune and continually improve your experience at the HQ network of sites. _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

The biggest thing left is the HQ database. It's the biggest load there is, always has been. The way the old data tables are, they test highly inefficient. ...
Thank you and have a great holiday too Foragobby _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

whatever you did over the past day or so to the server is amazing tweaked!.. Thanks again for looking after the place for us.. I'm trying to stay on top of things as always, but getting help from the mods and admins when they have spare time!
I have been doing some updates tonight again, and the site is running so smooth! loving it.. thanks..
Only thing left that bothers me, but its not an issue, is that god dam caching..
It helps that's for sure, but sometimes because the site is database driven i save something and it caches the old data, i think im crazy! hahah

Thanks and yes the cache does delay updates to posts and even uploading of images but it has to in order to save processing and time for multiple requests of the same items as it stores the most used and most recently accessed files in RAM for a short period of time.
I think the trade off is worth it but we need to remember that if something like a database update does not show up immediately, it will be there in a few seconds or so. The truth is it is already there, everything is working the same, just the memory caching tries to handle as many requests as possible with compiled and stored data in the computers memory instead of directly loading from the drives and then having the web server use tons of processing to compile the data. So the goal is that the web server has much less work to do and this translates into a lower CPU load for the same amount of work. In turn, it means things are quicker for the ones browsing around.
I know you understand how this all works, Forahobby, but for the benefit of the readers I thought I would give a basic explanation of how it works and why. This is very basic, there is allot more to it
I glad to hear things are working smooth for you with your updates to the sites! I got some rest now I am about work on my new product site. I need to launch it soon. Cheers! Thanks for all your hard work on the HQ sites! _________________________________________________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

hi tweaked,
thanks for the explanation and yes i understand why your doing it too! No Wonder! I hope we get another 500,000 day soon, that would impress me.. Our best day yet on the new server was 531,000 or something in a day.. that's nice and like the old days on xbox-hq when it was at its peak.
One thing i wanted to bounce of you, my next hobby project for HQ consists of 1 website, which will link into the HQ network, but mostly only be forums, but a huge forums with sub cats and stuff.. I want to cover everything so can chat everyting in one place and not just xbox 1, xbox 360, i mean everything.. This could be a good thing for your store and use our forums for support.
anyway, just another project i dont have time for but its in my head.

Yeah a few months ago I said somewhere on here that I thought it would be better for traffic and also to help eliminate confusion about xbox vs xbox 360 if there was one big site for it all. I mean the new xbox is coming man and so what does that mean another site. Too much for one sole to handle.
I agree with your idea because that would mean we could nearly have forums and sections for anything. The way the current sites works in the back ground is they are all under the account, so you gain nothing web server wise as they all all the same user, so having a master site won't make things worse just better for search engines, ads and one nice place for everyone to find what they are looking for. The big iso site did it and it works great being able to find everything in one place.
So you could then also have P3 and other console sections too. That would rock! I like the idea having having a forum place for my projects too. Hopefully you and the guys and or me can get this thing going before the next xbox comes out. That would be sweet!
