Ok so I found out the hard way and just lost access to my youtube page!
So as google buys out web sites and creates new ones, they all have one thing in common. Google wants you to use Gmail. They are requiring you to use a gmail account to sign into its sites rather than just use your chosen email and pass or chosen user name and pass.
Ok, so here is what happened with me. I have my main youtube page that I have had for many years. I have a second youtube page I set up as an experiment and never used it.
I just set up a Google+ page which requires you to use your gmail addy and pass to log in.
Now if your Google+ page and youtube page use different gmail addys, you will constantly get logged out of one every time you log into the other.
If they have the same gmail addy and pass, you will be logged into both anytime you log into either.
Ok so today I tried to get on to youtube and got the google log in. I put in my youtube name and pass. It gives me a message that they no longer accept the old login info and you must have your youtube linked to gmail account.
So I said ok, Ill give it the same gmail I use for google+ so it does not keep logging me out. so i did, then my youtube came up and it was that experiment one I do not use, WTF!
So since it is not a real old account and youtube does not allow 2 accounts with same gmail. I can not unlink that youtube. Thus Can not get on my main Youtube now!
So now I have to create a brand new youtube page, Link it to a brand new gmail, then go back to GOOGL+ and see if i can change the gmail of that to match my new youtube.
Its a big cluster fuck, I really do not like what google is doing forcing the use of Gmail for several sites. I like to have a complete different name and pass on every site, If one gets hacked with Gmail, they then have access to all my sites that require Gmail.
So when you set up Google+, be damn sure you use the same gmail you use for your main youtube account.
Im so pissed im not even in the mood to go back and fix all my typos.
UPDATE...
After a bunch of screwing around, I pulled up Youtube and my main is showing now. I think I must have got it working somehow. Anyway, just careful how you set up your email address on these google owned sites or it can become a huge headache.

I was going to mention this myself but i thought it was just me stuffing things up.. I finally got my normal youtube account and my forahobby youtube working, but like you said i had to use a gmail account. _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:

Maybe I don't understand, but on my google account I do not have a Gmail email at all and never have. I use my own email service.
Same with G+
