i just bought an xbox 360 and it already had games installed on the hard drive which is 320 gig. the black ops on the hard drive tells me to insert the cd but the other games dont. am also on dashboard 2.8955.0(samthing like that) is it jtag or not. who can really explain this cause i dont get it?
No, you cannot JTAG your console as it has a higher kernel version than 8498... Most Xbox 360's with a kernel version below 8498 are JTAG vulnerable. _________________________________________________________

You can because It was already Jtaged.
Try booting the console with the tray button. _________________________________________________________

Not sure if Legendary mis-read the post.
If your console is 2.8955.0 and it wasn't jtagged, then there would be no way to jtag it. But in your case, the xbox had been jtagged when the dash was lower than 8498 and then upgraded to 2.8955.0.
Hope that makes sense.
Have you gone through your games list and seen anything like NXE2GOD, XEXMenu or FreeStyle Dash? _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

As x-splinter said, have you tried turning your xbox on by pressing the eject button on the DVD drive?
If you are using a component or HDMI cable, nothing will come up on your television screen. If you use the yellow, red and white leads only, you will see a program called xell load up.
Best try that first. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

Sorry I have misread, the way to confirm your console has been JTAG modified is to try play homebrew or open it up and look for yourself! So try running some homebrew, just put it on a CD/DVD and then put it in your xbox... Just when you download the homebrew it might be in a file extension such as .RAR.. Download WinRAR, then open the homebrew file up, and then just drag the files onto the disc and burn it. _________________________________________________________
