hey guys. So I'm a fan of Tokyo Highway Challenge from the dreamcast days, and I started to read up on the series and found that apparently Import Tuner Challenge is a game in that series, now I've also seen reference to an as yet unreleased/unannounced Tokyo Extreme Racer title for the current generation. Can anyone else confirm that this is an up to date rumour or am I just catching some old info on a game that turned into Import Tuner Challenge? have a look at the link below, this is all I've found. Are they one in the same or is there a new Tokyo Extreme Racer coming to 360? let me know what you think I'd be interested to hear thoughts and opinions. thanks

I had a dreamcast but can't remember Tokyo Extreme racer..
Our database looks to be up-to-date, all other sites like IGN etc still have it as TBA. i know it came out on ps2 i think, so hopefully it will make its way out somewhere.
There have been alot of dreamcast games coming out lately, like the dreamcast collection.

Seriously probably one of my favourite Dreamcast games, called Tokyo Highway Challenge 2 on the DC in the PAL region, also the first was released on the DC too... There's been a few on psp or ps2 and then the game Import Tuner Challenge came out on 360 in 2006.
ITC is OFFICIALLY the next Tokyo Extreme or highway challenge etc game that came out, its made by Genki and they are all callled Shutokō Battle in Japan, ITC was called Shutokō Battle x(10?) (for some reason Ubisoft changed the name to ITC to try and tempt people who like Fast and Furious and NFSU into getting it) so if this listing of Tokyo Extreme Racer is true and its still "TBA" even now then that means it must be either a new one or an XBLA rerelease, do you think?
either way if another does come to 360 I will be totally getting it. Just bought ITC on ebay for £6.99 inc p+p so I can't wait to get cracking with that. I'm just ashamed I didn't hear about it!

yup we have "Tags: Shutokou Battle" associated with that game, i have heard more of that title personally, but only because i run the site i suppose.. hahhaha

so you've never played Tokyo Highway Challenge 1 OR 2 on the Dreamcast? FOR SHAME!!! lol, seriously that was such a great game, its like an RPG racing game lol, well maybe not quite but not far off! Can't wait to try out ITC when it arrives and will look out for more info on this new TXR game on the 360. Arcade or retail? I'll be interested to see what happens

Yeah I pretty much completed both of the originals on DC and it wasn't until I started playing them again AFTER I had completed NFSU 1 and 2 that I realised the TXR (THC) came before it and I was pretty surprised!
Anyway yeah I'm really looking forward to getting ITC as it looks the nuts and I can't believe there will be more sections AND the chance to play in daylight! lol, pretty much never saw the sun in THC, I just hope the only control/physics mechanics they've changed is the collision detection cos in the first one it was pretty bad, you know on C1 inner and you go through that section on the right side of the inner/outer going anti clockwise and there was a tunnel with a wall in the middle? I used to slam into that thing pretty often, what a nightmare lol. Still the one good thing about that was the fact that the a1 ALSO hit it as well lol.

Dude I just thought about what you said and I'm confused... loads of Tokyo Extreme Racer games came out on the ps2, inc TXR 3, the 2 drift games as well, which one are you thinking? are you thinking its an arcade rerelease/remake of an original game? I would be cool with a HD remake of one of them but I'd rather have a new one tbh! Anyway when you mention its already been on PS2 do you mean one of these?
is it either of them two that your thinking of? I highly doubt they would port a ps2 game to the 360, it would probably be a HD Remake but why? Just seems a bit odd to me. As I said I'd rather have a new one personally. but thats me

There's not alot of info on it so it may have been canceled, or have only came out in japan; here are some links.
If you're confused think about me, i probably did play it but its not a game i remember much, I was too busy with shenmue, megadrive collection and homebrew emulators i guess.

I had a look at all the links and one of them the last bit of update was a screenshot from 2005, the other is from 2006, so I think its fair to say that it all probably relates to ITC and the fact it got called ITC meant that no one realised and they just left the TXR working title stuff up not realising. course that's just my theory! I'd love to think that a new one is coming but I doubt it.
Side topic slightly, does anyone know how to work out whats going on with the original versions that went on to ps2? I have been googling away and found that the second TXR from the DC days was ported to the ps2, and that a prequel to the FIRST one called Tokyo Extreme Racer ZERO was ALSO released on the ps2 but it looks like I might be wrong, as it appears that there was only 1 released (not counting extreme racer Drift 1 or 2 or TXR 3) on ps2, called Tokyo Extreme Racer ZERO in America and simply called tokyo Extreme Racer in the UK. So you can see why I got confused. Can anyone CONFIRM if either of the 2 dc original games WERE ported to PS2 or if they just built the one game for ps2 called Zero in the US ? thanks
