Recently I seen a lot of people were complaining that they could not watch their AVI's and other file extensions, due to the lack of support for the Optional Media Update on a JTAG with the latest 12611 dashboard. Although this is possible...
The first thing your going to want to do is YarisSwap your Media Update folder (Content\0000000000000000\FFFE07DF\00000002). But before you use YarisSwap, back them up as once the operation is done, the Optional Media Update will only work on JTAG's.
Once you have everything modified and back on your hard drive, you will want to update again. Make sure you are running the latest 12611 kernel already or else this will brick your JTAG!
Once you have downloaded the latest update, put it on the root folder of any USB storage drive formatted as FAT32. (example: D:\$SystemUpdate). If your folder looks like "$systemupdate", you will want to capitalize the 'S' and the 'U' to look like this "$SystemUpdate".
Now once everything has been transfered to the USB stick and hard drive, plug the hard drive and USB stick into your Xbox 360 JTAG and start it up. Once the boot logo has finished, a message should come up asking to update your Xbox 360. Just proceed with the update.
The Optional Media Update should now work on your JTAG! _________________________________________________________

Depends on your Xbox 360 motherboard type, the soldering is different for different motherboards. Also, the procedure should be the same for each kernel version, although if your on a hacked 9199, don't try to update with a 12166 system update. Instead, use the 9199 update like normal. If you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to post a new thread somewhere on the forums! _________________________________________________________
