You gotta love the video below. Not too long ago I was a Scuba Dive Master here in southern california. When not training divers I spent most of my time diving the channel Islands where there are allways sightings of great whites, Many of the actual dive spots I dove were spots where Whites have been seen, One regular in particular the locals called old stumpy, named so do to a large part of its dorsal fin missing.
Many of these dive I did at night and solo, I remember once on a night solo night dive off of Catalina Island. I was exploring a small sail boat ship wreck at about 70 feet and I kept getting the strong feeling like someone was right behind me breathing down my neck, I spent most of the dive constantly glancing behind me with my dive light but never saw anything. Very spooky and rattled my nerves a bit.
Under water in the dark is different than above ground in the dark, In the water you only see literally along your lights beam.
I have even been on deep water shark dives where we chum the water and get inr, We use a cage at night but during the day we would hang a rope about 35 foot long with an anchor on the end, and then hang off of that and wait for the sharks to come in, Blues mostly but once in a while we would get a Mako, Pound for pound a Mako makes a White look like a wimp, Even the blues go away when a mako in in the area, So did we, Mako means Get back on the boat., When the blues came back you knew it was save to get back in. We would always bring a couple on board to measure and Tag.
But on all the dives I have been on I have never been lucky enough to see a White Shark with my own eyes, But I bet they have seen me lol
Check out this video of a white attacking a Zodiac, Thats scary! My kind of video, I think HQMonsterboy can relate as well. That guy has probably spent more time on the water than I have. we used to use one of those to get us closer to our dive entry points then make our way back to the Mother Boat under water. I never would have guessed we would not jave been safe in a zodiac.
