Disclaimer: I've been searching through both this forum and Xbox-Scene and so far have not found a straight-forward / direct answer to my specific question, thus I'm posting here. If I've failed to search correctly, please direct me to the post that would be useful to me - otherwise, thanks for the help in advance.
Background: I have two Hitachi GDR-3120L drives (original is ROM version 0047DJ and spare is 0059DJ). The original appears to be dying slowly. It reads discs about 1/10 360 restarts. The spare was given to me by a friend and I assume it to be in perfect working order. This issue only occurred after I did the x-clamp fix for the RROD problem. I believe the drive was damaged in the process (scorching marks on bottom of drive may be proof? )
Question: What do I need to do to simply replace the dying drive (0047DJ) with the spare drive (0059DJ)? I have no desire to play backups or do anything other than replace the drive and not get banned from XBL.
Thanks again to anyone with advice or suggestions or any sort of direction...
