On one of the sites I use to help run with a friend we setup a News forum that linked directly to each news item posted and was setup so that anonymous users could comment on the news items.
I think this could be a good idea for HQ as it instantly gives people an area to discuss news items without getting lost in the entire forums.
Not sure if you would like to go the 'Anonymous' posting route, but it does get people into the community quicker. But of cause that always has a negative side to it.

Well really most people view our news which is on the homepage and it works just great with google too.. It's what gets us most of the traffic.
So with that said.. Id have to say why dont you just use the SUBMIT NEWS button.. its much the same as what your talking about bro..
anyway, thanks for the suggestion but you have to remember when we post news from 360-hq it goes to other sites too.. Its alot more compicated then most sites on the net since its all networked with one login.
