Hey Guys, A bit off topic, but had to post this.
Ok, So my computer has been running pretty slow lately and getting some crashes. especially when pulling up the 360HQ. To fix some of this I did a full destructive system restore on my computer and loaded up my usual software such as AVG, Internet 7 etc.
I have been using the computer today and it worked like new again, no problems. I still needed to get my software for doing my power point, spreadsheet and excel stuff. I don't have ms office (too expensive) so I use the free program from Google, star office you get from the Google pack. This time I see that the finished Google chrome is available now for free download.
Looked it up on wiki and youtube first to see if it may be worth downloading, I dont like to DL anything without researching it a bit, last thing i need is another useless program or harmful program slowing down my pc.
well it looked good so figured I would give it a try.
Holy Sh@@ batman! I really like it!, has some very cool features, and it is smokin fast. I can get around the net like never before. I feel like I have a brand new computer with a kick ass internet service. No joke and no exaggeration.
If you have not given it a try yet I suggest you try it out.
once you download it you can use your usual internet system like normal or go to your start menu and choose GOOGLE CHROME. so once it is installed you don't have to use it every time you get on the net.
If any of you already use Chrome or do DL it let me know what you think.

hiya dude, i dont use chrome but will have a look at it, i do some minor repairs and maintenance for friends and the no. 1 cause i find for system slow down is registry maintenence. everytime you delete a file or instal a program this gets written to your registry some programs can be sloppy to make these entries, and sometimes deleted files leave errors in it, i always reccomend a registry cleaning program - specifically registry doctor (many years of good use!) or more recently registry easy which i find is very good!

Thanks, I will look into those. by the way, are these free, or do you know of any decent free registry cleaners?

unfortunately im not sure if either of these are free, after a quick browse i found these 2 freeware sites with registry cleaners, i must warn you i have not tried either download, or either site, so i cannot verify these as safe!!
Be wary though as some registry programs come up with loads of problems pre registration then show less on registration, i would reccomend registry easy as its what i use currently and it finds a lot of problems! hope this helps! i dont post much on pc-hq.com but there might be more on speeding up your system and applications - check it out part of the hq community!
No, I have seen no problems at all so far. but I have only been using it for 2 days now. Just that it all loads quite a bit faster for me.
Plus I like some of the features like having my favorite (favorite sites) icons in my upper toolbar so I can bypass the favorites menu.
A tab you can click on to surf the net in a new INCOGNITO window, this prevents any cookies and history keeping while in that mode, not that I would ever need something like that lol.
And being Google, you know they are going to be around for quite a wile, have resources up the ass, and are very competitive so you know there will always be improvements.
plus it seems to have some cool security features, lets say if you have several tabs open with a separate web page on each, and you open something in one tab that would crash the page or may cause your computer to crash normally, well chrome is supposed to be able to isolate the error or crash/ freeze to the specific tap page and not your entire browser, so instead of having to close out the browser you can just close out the specific page/tab. I have not had the chance to try this out myself though.
And the best thing, it does not change your browser you are using now at all. If you download chrome its like 9mb, and it can be a separate icon on your desk top, like the Internet explorer. I can Click on the big E and use IE7 or the Google Chrome icon and browse using that.
if you decide you dont like it, it seems like a easy enough removal, you go to start menue, scroll over chrome, and choose uninstall. But I would still do research yourself on the net for any chrome problems before DL it. if it turns out there are any kind of problems with your particular system don't hate me, I'm just an average joe on the PC issues, no expert.
By the way, I have not really used other programs like Firefox and the such so I can not personally vouch for the speed improvement against those browsers. But I did see a benchmarking video someone did that showed numbers that beat the crap out of everything, one of the top programs (sorry cant remember which it was) did some tweaking after the results, and they say that those two are head to head now.

Thanks, and after being screwed a few times downloading free programs, I do quite a bit of research before downloading a specific program for from a specific site to see if anyone has reported any problems.
I like firefox and it works great. Which translates to I'm too lazy to install this new browser when this one is already smoking fast. _________________________________________________________
Yeah I dunno if I will try out chrome. I've been with firefox since 1.5 and I don't know if I can back out of it Also Firefox has what your talking about, its called the bookmarks toolbar
The main reason I like firefox is because they are constantly updating it, there is a huge fanbase/community coming up with tons of add-ons and themes that the developers support.
