Student sues airline for $1,000,000 over lost Xbox 360
The passengers aboard the flight which landed in the Hudson River were compensated $5,000 each for their damages, one individual feels his Xbox is worth more.
A 21 year old student from Yale University is suing US Airways for $US1 million ($1.53 million) on the grounds that he believes an Xbox 360 game console was taken from his checked luggage during a December flight from New Haven, Connecticut, to Cincinnati, Ohio.
The lawsuit was filed on Monday in Hamilton County Common Pleas court in Ohio.
Though the game system can be purchased new for $AU399.95, Jesse Maiman claims that his console is worth more due to modifications and upgrades. Therefore, he is suing US Airways for $US1700 for the console itself and $US1 million which is the maximum allowed by law for damages.
"That thing was my DVD player," Maiman told the Cincinnati Enquirer, in justification of the lawsuit.
A spokesperson for US Airways claims the company has yet to see the lawsuit, but pointed out that there is a federal limit of $3,300 in which a passenger is allowed to claim for lost baggage. She also made note that the airline’s bagged policy clearly states that the company is not responsible for lost electronic items. _________________________________________________________
some people think that they are entitled to something for nothing. I hope that a judge tells him he is retarded for asking so much and will tell him that the 5000 is more than worthy payment.

Very unreasonable. I would just ask for as much money as it is needed to remake the xbox.

So true, I never ran across this post until today and I couldn't stop laughing. What's crazy is the MF will probably win. Meanwhile a poor prick that trips on the job and ends up with a floor lamp up his ass can't win a lawsuit for 50 bucks for an on the job injury. ya that guys taking the pee, i hope someone clocks onto the fact hes said "due to modifications" and throws the case out, maybe he thinks its worth so much cos he had loads of pirated software, maybe he had dupes he planned to sell! neways hes selfish, and shud have been thankful for the monies offered. id go buy him a 360 and give $500 and tell him thats it.
