Ok, so I just purchased a 1600 point card. My brother and I share 1 xbox, we each have our own hard drive. I have xbox gold, he does not.
I want to use 800 points go get him the DL content for fable2, which will go on his hard drive. I wish to save the remainder to go towards COD5 maps when they come out for my hard drive.
Can we share the points from the 1600 point card? How do I go about doing this?

As long as you both are using the SAME Console you can purchase it and anyone who uses that console in the future will also be able to use it without a problem (full version).
If you change consoles in the future you will always need to be LOGGED IN with your account for anyone else to be able to play the full version..
If you change consoles fulltime you can use a M$ tool to convert your content to the new console but you can only do this once every 12 months.

so how does it work? I have the xbox on and to redeem code I need to be signed in with a profile. I will get his first since his content is available and mine is not. I will put his hard drive on, sign into his profile then redeem code, download his content ( which I assume would be tied to his profile, drive?) so how do I then go about using whats left to download something for my profile on my hard drive? can I down load content to separate drives and profiles, or do I have to do it all on one profile/drive then later put in the other drive and do a recover profile and download again on that drive?
I have never messed with this stuff. Dont want to screw it up.
We use separate drives because we had our own xbox's, they both died, we put in for an arcade model and just switch out our old drives when we use it now.

Well when it comes to different hdd's im not exactly positive to tell the truth since i have always only ever bough content on the same hdd.
I fairly postive that no matter what hdd you purchase it on if you use your own TAG your brother should be able to use it but you may need to download it again onto both hdds.
I remember being shown an old trick to get 1 arcade game on two totally seprate machines but im pretty sure it would have been updated by now.
All you had to do was use your points and login on a friends xbox 360 and purchase a game or item from xbox live.. It would then be locked to your friends xbox 360/hdd and your gamertag.. You could then go home and use your own xbox 360 to redownload the live arcade game so you could both play it.
maybe just experiment with something small or wait for more input.
I will hold off till someone knows for sure. my priority are the new cod5 maps. So unless I figure it out for sure I would rather error with my new maps and extra points.
Ither way I will post back what ever happens, Thanks for the input.

Decided to play it safe. Got my brother his Fable 2 Knot Hole Island download content with some separate points I decided to purchase. Will save the card for my COD5. Plus, his was 800, if the new cod5 maps cost more than 800 I would have had to buy another card anyway.
But if someone does figure it out please post, Im sure someone else might be able to use the info.
I don't think it's possible to spilt them up. You have to use the whole card without splitting it up. _________________________________________________________

I was reading some Google Posts on the subject of MS points, apparently at one time there was an option to "GIFT" points to friends. it was a beta mode application but MS got rid of it. I dont remember that but I could have missed it if it did exist.
Now I know at one time you could lets say get a beta code for a cool new game. redeem the code and download it. now lets say your buddy did not get his code. You could (if you trusted him enough) give him your account info. let him recover your account on his box. then he could just look up your download history and re-download the beta to his box. then log out of your account. back into his and he would now have the beta on his xbox as well. Thats what I hear anyway.............. bet they fixed that by now.

I did hear a rumour ages ago that MS were working on gifting points.
That would have solved your problems if they had finished it, which I don't think they have yet. _________________________________________________________ Mattster
