I'm not sure exactly what your problem is or how it happened.
Sounds like you just need to go out and buy a new hard drive to me. _________________________________________________________

Hard drives are interchangable man. Only dvdrom disk drives are locked to each xbox.
So is it your hard drive or your disk drive that is broken. Your talking about both now. _________________________________________________________

yep, harddrives dont matter. You just need to replace it and copy your backup files back over to your new drive.. Wayneski, you are right about the dvdrom being locked..
What i did was buy a new hdd, then i had to re-download most of my content again.. I didnt have no backup. _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:

What you're looking for is hddhacker it seems, they're not paired per se, but they are definitely signed and formatted in xfat. You will also have to be able to connect it to the 360, so hopefully you have a busted hdd so you can use it's casing.
http://www.360-hq.com/xbox-tutorials-85.html has a tutorial for a slightly older version of the program, soon I'm going to be going through this upgrade, so maybe I can help out more in the coming weeks, but I haven't bitten the bullet yet. _________________________________________________________
Yeah the hard drives are interchangable. You can buy an official M$ one, or mod the firmware on certain models, I'm going to do a guide here in a few days (getting one myself)
