Ok this little guide is to be used to let people that can't get DSL or Broadband high-speed internet where they live to be able to get on Xbox Live to update your 360 or get backward compatible update's and get trailers and even demo's. This will also let you play game but almost 90% of the games will be unplayable so please dont lag people's game's. (Halo 2 is playable with about 8-10 people)
Ok now that thats all out of the way on to how you do it........
What you need:
1. Xbox 360 (duh)
2. PC with a dial up modem and a ethernet port.
3. A (Crossover) Cable (not a normal ethernet cable, and not the ethernet cord the 360 came with) Here is a good place to get one.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16812117821 (A xbox Link Cable is also a crossover and that will work)
4. Dial-Up ISP
How you set it up:
Have your dial up account setup on your pc. The goto Start> Control Panel> Network Connection's and right click on your dial up setup and goto the Advanced Tab and check the box that say's Allow other network connections to conenct thre this connection. (This will share your dial up)
How you connect it:
1. Ok now take the (Crossover Cable) and hook it to your 360 to your Pc's ethernet port.
2. Dial on to the internet with your pc. Once its connected goto step (3)
3. Now Make a gamer tag threw xbox.com on your PC once its setup and you have a gamertag goto step (4)
4. Now Turn on your xbox 360 console. It may ask to update please do so if it ask's.
5. Goto Recover Gamertag...... and follow the instructions on the screen.
6. once your done you should have a gamertag and be able to get updates, trailers, arcade games and such all with your dial up.
Im one of the people that can't get dsl or BB and im using this method to get all the updates and stay conencted to friend's and play some halo 2 once in a while.
(UPDATE) : If you are having problems connecting sometimes change your Eithernet Adapter's Internet protocol. Its easy here's how : Star>Control Panel>Network Connection right click on you eithernet adpater goto properties then Internet Protocol [TCP/IP] then hit properties and change It to (Use the following Ip address) and type in IP ADDRESS: 192.168.0.100 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 The rest should be blank. If you get a message just contiue that. Now you should connect always.")
Please Enjoy my small little guide and i hope it help's.[/b]

Good job man. Its always good to know that, I had looked previously and never found instructions on it... ( I ahve a shitty dsl connection, i used to have a beautiful cable connection), I never needed to hook it up but I wanted to see if it could really be done. _________________________________________________________ XBOX v1.6
