Yeah the problem with M$ is they overcharge for everything.

For example a 120gb 2.5" hard drive I can go to a store and buy for 65$ yet the official M$ one for 360 costs $160. I know for a fact that M$ gets the hard drives a lot cheaper because they buy in bulk, and I HIGHLY doubt the 360 hard drive case and the transfer cable costs $95 dollars.

I think an acceptable price point for the 120gb hard drive would be $80-$100, the 60gb one probably $50-$75, knowing M$ this probably won't happen

I read somewhere that M$ said it cost so much because they have to put in some security chip in the HDD that costs like $100 or something. So they think that your actually saving money for what they say they have to put into it.

sounds like shenanigans to me because if we can replace with standard 2.5" laptop hard drives I think that is a bunch of bullcrap, again M$ pr at work right there Smile

Of course a DVD drive can not compare to the speed of a SATA hard drive. The data transfer rate is also higher for the HD not just the access time. I welcome this feature. I will use it for the main game I am playing most often. Why not have faster loads? Some games load on the fly. For games like this it will make a noticeable improvement.

Anyway, the DVD drives load quite quick compared to the Blueray player in the PS3. So it is understandable that we are satisfied with the 360 DVD drive.

I think it is a useful feature, one I will be using.

If it leads to a mod all the better.
