Hello Everyone! Hope everyone's doing good! OK, so I have this issue thats been on my mind for a few days now, and I would really like to get your advice ...
For the past few months, I have been planning to buy an Xbox 360 ... In specific, I have had my eye set on the Jasper Xbox 360, which I had been planning to buy when it comes out...
But now I'm hearing that Jasper comes with the new Liteon DVD Drives, which are un-hackable as of now ..
I on the other hand, want a hackable Xbox 360... I wont have really minded to wait for a few months for these Liteons to get hacked, but from what I hear, the new Liteons are complete unhackable .. That there is a significant possibility that there might never be a hack for these Liteon drives !
The problem with the Falcon's is that although the CPU is 65nm, the GPU (the main component which causes RROD) is still 90nm ... Although the rate of RROD occurring is a lot lesser for the Falcon series than its predecessors, its still there nonetheless ... Jasper would mostly probably have completely sealed off any possibility of any RRODs, with its 65nm CPU and GPU !
Keeping the above trade off in mind, what would you recommend ...
1) That I wait it out, and get a Jasper when a hack for its Liteon drives comes along (even if it does come along at all!!) ..
2) Just buy a Falcon, and pray that nothing happens to it ..
Please help me out people, and thanx for your advice ...
Welcome to 360-HQ akmadka, hope your finding everything ok, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
As for your situation, I would say it really depends on whether or not you need your games backed up right away. I have a falcon, and I would highly doubt that I would every get the RROD with how cool it runs. Even if I did get the RROD there are tons of people here on 360-Hq who are more then happy to help anyone out.
Personally I think the LiteOn will get hacked eventually, even if it requires a chip. If you are going to go for the falcon take note that the newer ones have the LiteOn drives (try and get something with a manufacture date of December 2007 to February or march 2008 for a BenQ)
If you really want to back up your games soon, go with the Falcon, if your backups can wait then wait for a jasper.
Also Remember:
360-HQ does NOT SUPPORT PIRACY in any way shape or form, and reminds all of our members that it is illegal to pirate games. Support the game developers and buy their games! Any talk of piracy on 360-HQ will have consequences. _________________________________________________________ 360-HQ Toolbar | 360-hq Digg news | 360-HQ Active Topics | 360-HQ Boxxet Page | My Setup

I have a falcon also but mine was only made in May, havn't had any problems but you wouldn't expect to yet.
If you wanna know if it has a benq or lite-on, take the faceplate off and under where it says "xbox 360" on the dvd drive bezel there is a hole. If the wire is white it is a benq, if it is yellow then it is a lite-on.
As for hacking the drive, all we need is someone to do is to find out how to extract the key so you can spoof another drive. It's possible to get the key from the motherboard, but too difficult for your average Joe. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.
In my opinion I would go with the jasper. It should become flashable here soon and in the long run the 65 nm gpu is going to hold out better. _________________________________________________________

Either way buying a 360 will be the best decision in gaming u will make no matter wat one u buy and i speak from experience.
And support game developers so that better games can be produced and 360 can stay well ahead of the rest (not that that is hard)
I have a falcon, and it freezes every now and then, but runs icy cold air out the back. Never runs anywhere near as hot as the first generation.

Try search for the Lot and Team before buying.
What i do? I print all 360's that have a LitOn drive making like a black list of consols that i shouldnt buy. _________________________________________________________
