is there any way to hook up a 40GB pc hard drive an an xbox 360?
rather not risk anythin but if needed i will Question

Firstly, welcome to the site.

If you mean to use it to replace the hard drive attached to the side of your xbox in the plastic casing, then no i believe the answer is. You can only use it to play adult films and jungle music via the usb, even then you would have to put it into an enclosure.

well i mean like i dont have a 360 hard drive i just want a way to put the 40gb pc hard drive into my 360 and use it as if its a memory card / hard drive for downloads of xbox live and gamer profiles and everything like that

As far as I know this is possible (how I do not know) I know each hard drive has a specific key to let it go on xbox live, so if you didn't have the key of another drive you would not be able to use it for xbox live (or maybe even normal usage)
