I know I said I would wait till the 360's got cheaper,,,,, but what the Hell. After looking at new computers I decided the only reason I needed a new one is for the newer Games coming out that my PC is increasingly haveing a harder time with.
AMD Athelon 2800+ 512MB Ram and nvidia's cheap FX 5200 from Asylum with 256MB ram. MB only has a 4x AGP slot though, so as you can see I'm suffering. To give you an idea Doom3 runs at about 25 to 35 fps on medium with 1024x768 resolution.
Anyways after seeing how fast spec requirements have been going up and the cost of a PC capable of playing games at decent quality for about 3 years. I've decided to go ahead and get a 360 now. Why?
1. The price of a 360 verses a comparable PC for the sole purpose of playing games. 400 vs 1500 at best for a 3 year machine
2.my pc is plenty good enough for everything but gaming. If it does become out dated new ones for this purpose are only $400 (can be cheaper w/o monitor) point1 400 + point2 400= 800 total New gaming PC $1500+ for one that will last 3 years worth of gaming. 800 vs. 1500+
3. Games will be developed for the 360's specs in mind for (theoreticaly)at least 5 years. PC games need to increasingly have more power as the games can not be tweeked for a specific machine especialy one that is a year or two behind in technology. (you cant rewrite code to take better advantage of your old video card)
4 Games systems visualy don't have too much room for improvment. they produce more than enough polygons now to reproduce real life. its the time and effort that goes into programing that determines whether or not they choose to use that power.
5. I want the dang thang and I don't feel like waiting _________________________________________________________

You wont be sorry if you get the 360.. The games are nice and run the same as a high end pc with the best graphics cards etc etc.. The only thing with 360 is you wont need to upgrade hardware like a pc.. hahah
Personaly i used to love gaming on my pc until i got sick of the constant updating of my hardware just to play the next game releases..
Yea I know ,,,, I downloaded the demo cause I couldn't wait any longer to try it, but I didn't want to get that game until I got an HDTV.... _________________________________________________________
