I just got my 3rd 360. This one has the RROD. Time to start ordering parts. Any advice on which RROD fix to use, The Team Xecuter or the Xclamp or both? Let me know. _________________________________________________________ aka IrishGunner

Something to add to this question that I have always wanted to know is if everything that comes with that rrod kit can be locally bought in Home Depot or Lowe's? I mean in all reality it is just a bunch of screws and washers and some artic silver yes? Hardware stores have thousands of screws and washers and Radio Shack sells artic silver so wouldn't that be a cheaper way of doing it instead of ordering it from some website and paying outrageous shipping? _________________________________________________________

The team xecuter fix is just 4 ruber heatsinks that stick onto the 4 memory chips on the underside of the motherboard. With it you get 2 torx screwdrivers to open the case.
As for the x-clamp fix, i have never bought one. I have bought the screws and washers from a diy store and they come to about £6. I have seen cheaper on ebay (including shipping) but not sure of the quality of the screws/washers. I would have thought you don't get thermal paste, especially Artic Silver. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

yes you can buy the part at a hardware store you just have to make sure you get the right size screws and the correct number of washers. you need 8 12mm screws, 8 m5 nylon washers, 16 m5 steel washers, and of course the Arctic silver _________________________________________________________

Mr Gunner
I bought the screws and washers from B&Q. They were M5 10mm screws and M5 metal washers (M stands for machine).
For the Artic Silver, i got it from amazon. I paid £5.34 (including postage) from Today Games Galaxy Ltd. There are others on there that are the same price. To get it from a shop i would have thought you may have to look around quite a bit. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.
