As most of you know, most of our children stories and songs are based on dark true events.
"Ring around the Rosie"--describing the ring of rash you get from the plague, "pocket full of posies" (sp?) --- a plant thought to help ward off the plague. "all fall down"-- AKA they all die.
"Mary Mary quite contrary"--The Mary alluded to in this traditional English nursery rhyme is reputed to be Mary Tudor, or Bloody Mary, who was the daughter of King Henry VIII. Queen Mary was a staunch Catholic and the garden referred to is an allusion to graveyards which were increasing in size with those who dared to continue to adhere to the Protestant faith
And Pac-Man. Can it be that the true story of pac-man is of an astronaut on a secret NASA mission to mars whom killed his fellow crew mates after going a bit space crazy and abusing the ships medical supplies. He poisoned them all during one meal. He then began having hallucinations of their ghosts coming after him, the only way to stop the visions was by popping more pills, Eventually he escaped through the hatch to his death. The moral of pac-man is to not do drugs in space. Check the link below, do not be pulled in, some find it hard to stop looking at the image, if you feel this, it may indicate you may have a weakness to space sickness as LT. James Pacman had. http://drugsinspace.ytmnd.com/
