question...I have a Hitachi drive that makes a sound when it first loads up a backup disc. Its only when i first put the game in and it is initially reading it. The sound sounds like the laser is struggling or there is a scratch, but it still reads. Once it takes off, everything is fine, but it does it 100% of the time when initially reading the disc. Anyone know what the problem might be? I have a feeling it might be wearing on my laser?
any help is appreciated.

So the problem is with your DVDs, try using a Verbatim DVD DL they are not cheap but they are best. I had a DVD once that make a lot of noise playing.
Try it and then reply _________________________________________________________

Also just so people in the USA know go to Microcenter.com and check their store locations to see if there is one by you and if so they sell a dual layer media made by Windata you can get a 10 pack for $8.99US and a 20 pack for $14.99US these are what I use and have never had a problem. I believe there are a couple stores in Texas.
