Ok i get a letter in the mail i am geting summoned for a fee of $1,284 for a towing charge ok. Heres what happened i got this car from my sister for free she moved to az ok, i was using it to get to work i picked the car up on sunday well i was pulled over for switching lanes to fast and well they searched my name i had a warrent and since i didnt have no body that had a license in the car with me they had to tow my car..

I posted bail 3 hours later then the next day i went there to the towing company with $400 on me so i know it was going to cover it well the fee came to $275 i said ok thats fine lets do it. They said can we please see the title, i said ya its in the car in the glove box i havnt had it transfered yet and i thought it was at home or i would of had my name on it.

Well they said by law we cant let u take the car or the title to get it exchanged i told them well then im not paying for this tow and do not come after me for the towing charge either. They said have a nice day, well now im geting letters owning them $1,284 and i call there collective agency up and told them im not paying this i had the money for them and they wouldnt let me get the car out they said o well your paying it or were garnishing your wages i told them im counter sewing for harassiment and false charging all that good stuff and hung up so we will see how this goes what are your thoughts everyone let me know please thanks. Im just so freakin heated right now it sucks.

Wow sorry to hear that Scarface. Sad I hope everything works out ok. As for advice I am not a lawyer and would not want to tell you something wrong. I do advise seeking legal counsel though. Those collection agencies can be a bugger if they want to be. Like I said I hope everything works out okay and keep me informed.

I have no idea what you would have to do in order to get a car back anyways so it was hard to for me to follow but it doesn't sound too good. Hope all goes well.

u were supose to keep your title of your car at your house well i picked up the car with it in the glove box never had the chance to put my name on it and then i got pulled over well in order to get your car out of the inpound lot u need to have proof its your car. So they would not allow me to get the car out because i couldnt get the title so i told them then dont expect me to pay for this.

Ya its a messed up system, Its not the cops that are the bad guys its rules they all have to work under, and a big part of the system is revenue earnings through tickets, impounds, auctions and fines. Police officers given quotas thay are pressured to keep up with ( I have 3 buddies who are local city police and they all tell me this )
I have an inlaw that is an alcoholic and drinks and drives all the time. He has been pulled over and caught DUI 3 times in the last 2 years and he has never spent more than 2 hours in jail. Rather than making him do some time or requiring him to go to some kind of rehab or anything like that they have only givin him fines each time that he pays a bit on each month, they dont care that the guy can kill someone, they see him as a source or revenue through fines.
We have serious gang, illeagle imigration, Meth lab and other problems here in my area but more officers are put on traffic duty looking for people doing rolling stops at stop signs or not using their blinkers etc than they do on these other serious issues. I guess there is no money in going after busting up meth labs.
Ither way scarface they make money off you. Just look at what they charge to store your car for a single day, its very unfair.
Here in my area a buddy of mine got his car impounded after a traffic violation, I think he was driving without insurance or something, but anyway, they impounded his car and charged him like $150 a day to store it right... but here is the worst part, they have a rule that you can not have your car back for 15 days!. so you cant get it out befor then and you must pay the daily charge for each day, It came out to more than his car was worth and more than the majority of people can ever afford to pay even if its a nice car, They know this and win ither way, you pay out the nose or they keep your car and auction it off. They wont punish you by taking your license, putting you in jail etc, they just want money.
Not that I think my buddy should have gotten away with breaking the law, no one should, its just that it seems its a system based on making money rather than public safety. Or just doing whats right.

I used to watch this show on the BBC a few years back, some kind of London Cops type show. And from what I seen those traffic cops are even worse than ours, they are like hunters, they will fine you for any little thing they can find, they carry measuring taps to measure how far your tire is from the curb even!

I would have your sister goto the secretary of state, apply for a missing title for her car, then mail the title to you all signed over to you like you bought it, then you goto secretary of state, transfer title to your name, go to the impound lot, throw the title in their faces, then throw them $275 and the finger.

I've had a $ht load of problem with titles and crap. My dad let me use his car forever, basically it was mine, in his name (title, registration, etc.) It got stolen, so I went to report it at the downtown precinct. (Detroit will not take a stolen vehicle claims over the phone) After waiting 4 hours, my number was called. I told them my car was stolen earlier in the day. They asked for the title for the car. I told them my dad had the title 400 miles away. They said he needs to come down to report it.
The next day, my dad came down, waited another 4 hours downtown, just to hear they found your car and goto the impound across town to claim it. We went to the impound to claim the battered car. The tow driver offered to buy the car so he could fix it. We sold it to him right there on the spot. Point of this story is, he calls me about 3 months later and says he just got pulled over, and the car was still in my dads name. He never switched the title. He begged me to get my dad down again to get the car from another impound. My dad basically said f' you, but hopefully, your sister is nice about it. Wink Just wanted to share my story in case it makes you feel better.

good luck if you take this to court. you for sure have a case. I would think they would have to let you get the title out of the glovebox (even if its in the name of a family member)

well in some states they just auction off the car if no one will claim it not mn though and by law they say they cant let people into the car which still now im the one geting the fall for it when i had the money in the first place and they didnt want to deal with me then tell it racked up a big bill thats such bs. in your dads case i would go down get the car out and keep it lmao if its in better condition if the dude fixed it up lmao and file for lost title.
