Best answer I could find is to, beat each campaign on realistic without using checkpoint saves. It seems if you do so, your difficulty level is dropped back to normal. To check they advise you to put your cross hairs over a terrorist and if it turns red your on normal, if it doesn't change color your in realistic. Thats all I could come up with.
Good luck bloke.

I knew it.. lol.. I was playing on realistic then the enemy comes up in my crosshairs as red.. God dam it.
So you have to do each stage individually eh..
Well ill try another time.
I ALSO FOUND THAT OUT. :idea:GO ONLINE(IF YOU HAVE ACCESS)TO GET ACHIEVMENTS.MOST OF THE TIME YOU HAVE TO GO ON A RAMPAGE AND KILL 10 PEOPLE WITHOUT DYING.IF YOU PLAY ONLINE YOU CAN EXPERIMENT WITH IT.IF YOU NEED HELP HOLLA.PEACE

HOBBS! I have had the same trouble you are having. I beat it on normal, then i went to realistic & didn't get my 100 pts... son of a b**** i was mad, but like endless said, that could be true, because in the middle of the game when i was on realistic, i noticed it a little bit easyier untill i got to the end where you have to hack the missle where it just blows up in the air. But Let me know hobbs what you have found out on that. l8ter Jbrizzel

From what ive read about it you have to complete each stage via the scene selection menu.. You can then choose REALISTIC and it should work perfectly.
It seems when you pass a checkpoint in a NEW GAME it will revert back to normal.. You can check this at anytime by looking at the crosshairs like endless mentioned.
If the cross-hairs on your weapon turn RED then you are in NORMAL MODE.. Im thinking about starting again but wont be till i get to ELITE in multiplayer id say.
