LoL I should have picked up on this ages ago. What I think is happening is that your isp allows you only one ip. A switch wont work in this Situation. It obtains and ip address from your Isp. Thats why it probably worked at your work, they had multiple ip's. You can find cheap routers on the net. Or if you have dual lan ports on your comp, you can make your computer a router, and connect to the switch from there.
What type of connection do you have, Dsl/Cable? I'll find you a cheap router.

Call them, and see if you have more then one ip going to your house. Tell them what its for, I can have multiple Ip's as well, but im not into paying for it, so I went the router route. Now if you get an additional ip for free there you go.

I have Brighthouse, formerly Time Warner and I'm running 2 Pc's my 360, laptops wireless and was running my xbox all on 1 router. Have you tried resetting your router? _________________________________________________________

so i have given up, after 3 days of searching and getting nothing but dead ends i have decided to chunk this piece of junk and look into getting a router...
