I was in Walmart today and they have a PS3 set up in a case with a monitor on an endcap display. When I spoke to the dept. manager and ask why there was no controler to try it out with he told me that the PS3 in the case was a fake and it was just video player cycling through video clips of games.
If this is true,,,, I wonder,,,,, is this part of the 15,000 kiosks it was supose to have set up for demonstrations?
Notice the black backround,,,, the realy want their product seen don't they.

Thanks but I can't believe know one is talking about this on other sites. So far I haven't even seen it mentioned. All I saw was people talking about how sweet it looked at walmart and how they were going to knock people off so they could play.
Anyways,,,
I took a closer look at a display in a different Walmart location today and it is definatly a fake. The PS3 in the display is a plastic shell with a cardboard panel in the back with pics of all of the plugs that are suppose to be there.
The video unit is mounted just behind the bravia monitor. It is about a 1"x8"x5" box with a green reset button on it and has large blue and yellow writting on the top cover. I don't remember what it said but it looked like a manufacture's logo. The way it is mounted on the bracket makes it looks like part of the TV.
The funny thing is that the one I looked at today was locked up so when I found the box on back of the monitor I hit the green reset switch. The screen then went black and showed no video connection then showed a 1080 res indicator and in about a minute ,give or take, it started playing the game clips again. _________________________________________________________

Yeah whatever the Ps3 is made out of is really shitty. Its like the Psps screen, it smears really easy. I was looking at it in the display case at Wall-Mart and the whole front side of the ps3 (logo side) was all smeared and shit. And the silver outlineing of the console looks like its made out of some cheap ass plastic.

I seen another one of these and sometimes they mount the video box on the right side with the reset switch located on top out of site.
I asked the local Gamestop Guys and they said that their's wouldn't be a fake when they got it but they wouldn't get their's until sometime after Christmas. _________________________________________________________

Well Walmart finaly but in a working PS3. their display endcap is still a fake but they put a PS3 in place of their old PS2 and moved the PS2 down to where the PS1 was a while back.
On a side note, there were 10 people in line tonight and 10 PS3s came in. It seems walmart took the names of the 1st 10 customers in line last night and told everyone else there was no need to wait. These guys just had to show up tonight at midnight to claim their prize.
My Walmart got six 60 Gig units and four 20 Gig units. _________________________________________________________

I never said i cared, at least for Sony. I just think it is funny that there were people lined up the whole back of the store for the 360 launch even though they were told there was no chance of getting one. Sony fans were like oh well no need to stay.
I also forgot to mention only 1 person out of the 10 got a game with a system. that doesn't sound good for sony. _________________________________________________________
