Make sure the camera is in one position. Take the front of your head first hit A, than turn your head left as far as you can and hit A. Thats the best way I can explain it... most of the issues of what I had was the fact that my camera wasnt in one place.

Firstly, make sure you have decent lighting. Secondly, Your ears have to show--more so the right ear. I figured this out when my girlfriend tried mapping her face online and it was giving her invalid errors until she tucked her hair behind her ears.
Hope that helps. _________________________________________________________ I love my white and chrome 360!

same problem here, I've taken my side pic about 15 times & can't seem to get it right. Keep trying to change my lighting, background (when i move i change both first & 2nd headshot), and my ears showing & not showing, can't get a side pic to work

Haven't tried the game just yet, but I can try to help, when doing the profile shot, try and make sure that when you move your head for the side images, turn your head a full 90 degrees so that it doesn't capture any of the other side of your face, also make sure that any hair you have isn't covering your face nor your ears. Another thing that could be causing trouble is that when you turn you may sit up more or slouch more, make sure if your chin is on the red bar to make it touch the red bar when you turn to the side. Like I said haven't really tried too much but it should work, make sure you have plenty of light coming from the camera's direction to you so that it can read your features. _________________________________________________________

OK, Lets fix everyones problems.
I myself only just bought RAINBOX SIX VEGAS the other week and had exactly the same issues..
I was laughing my head off as i couldnt imagine why i was having so many problems.. Then it hit me.. lol
YOU MUST HAVE A PLAIN BACKGROUND BEHIND YOU
What i did.. My bro has a huge Fishing Esky (cooler) so i put it behind my head and then sat down and took my front shot.. Once it asks to turn around only turn your head and not your body..
Basically keep the same front shot but turn your head to the left..
If you get a error on the 2nd shot (which is the side shot). Then and only then go back one step and retake the SIDE SHOT..
It may take 3-4 times but you will get it.. I have done it about 3 times now and it has worked 100%.
It is very touchy..
lastly:
Dont expect your character to look anything like you.
Well atleast it will have your nose, chin and forehead.. Thats about it.. lol
I look like a dirty old man and im only 31...
If you want to see that i have my achievement for creating a custom character see my achievements..
